Coshocton City Schools Leaders Seek Community Input on Future of Educational Facilities

COSHOCTON, Ohio - Leaders of the Coshocton City School District are seeking community input on the future of education and educational facilities in the district.

To begin this extensive process, the district is seeking input by way of a community survey. This survey is the first in a series of opportunities for community members to learn about options for the district’s educational facilities and make their voice heard during the process. As the Master Planning efforts continue, more information, financial details and options will be considered and presented to the community.

Beginning Friday, January 18, an online survey will also be accessible on the district’s website - www.coshoctonredskins.com. For district residents with limited internet access, a printed version of the survey is available at the following locations, during normal business hours - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday:

   Coshocton Elementary School Office

   Coshocton High School Office

   Coshocton City Schools Board of Education Office

Completed print surveys will be accepted at any of the locations and times above, as well.

“As a district, we believe in preparing for the future of our school district and that includes our educational facilities,” said Superintendent Dr. David Hire. “We believe that the construction of our Elementary School has positively impacted our district and our community and we are now considering all options for our High School facilities. As a district, we are committed to listening to the needs and desires of our community in considering how we should best move forward.”

Results of the survey will be used by the Board of Education to inform future decisions related to possible new construction or renovation as well as significant maintenance investments and summer improvement work at the high school facility.

“As a Board, we are continually committed to being fiscally responsible with our school district’s budget. The community engagement effort that we are undertaking is an exploration process to make sure that we addressing the needs of our district and our community while being prepared to accept and maximize State funds when and if they become available,” said Board President, Dr. Jere Butcher. “At the same time, we want to make sure that we are properly investing in our current facilities to keep students in a learning environment that is best suited to their success.”

Open to all district residents, the results of the survey will be collected beginning Friday, January 18th and will close on Friday, February 1st. For future outreach opportunities like surveys and community forums, please follow Coshocton City Schools’ website for updates and details.
